Here’s a video that gives you a flavour of what the boxed set is all about. It was taken at the launch event in Glasgow.

Exactly 123 years to the day after Brother Walfrid sat in that hall at St. Mary’s, Calton, in 1887, and founded Celtic F.C.

You may recognise a few of the interviewees.

Overview

The bespoke luxury covered presentation box with twin opening lids contains a numbered A3 museum quality art print – signed and numbered by Peter Howson. An accompanying hologrammed certificate of authenticity. And a unique 60-minute documentary DVD following the life and legacy of Brother Walfrid narrated by award-winning actor and director Peter Mullan.

Plus an in-depth exploration of the causes of the Irish famine, featuring interviews with experts such as Professor Sir Tom Devine.

All of this is presented in a hand-made luxury bespoke box, one in an edition of only 1,888 (the year Celtic played their first match, against Rangers).

The Peter Howson ‘Brother Walfrid’ limited edition boxed set is the culmination of more than three years of design, research and development.

The aim is not only to provide a limited edition print, signed by Peter Howson, at a reasonable cost but also to allow purchasers to discover the story of Brother Walfrid – and the Irish Famine – through a 60-minute documentary.

The film features extensive and exclusive interviews with Peter Howson.

Each of the 1,888 (the year Celtic played their first match) Peter Howson-signed prints is of museum-quality finish.

Each boxed set comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.

The Certificate

Printed using the same process and light-safe inks as the limited edition print, the certificate paper was manufactured by world-leading experts, Hahnemühle. The Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity was designed to protect the security of your limited edition art print by reducing the risk of forgery.

Each certificate is made of premium deckle-edged, mould-made paper with a Hahnemühle watermark and fluorescent security fibres. A serialised numbered hologram appears on your certificate. A second, identically numbered hologram appears on the reverse side of the limited edition print.

The combination of certificate and hologram assures that each certificate of authenticity relates to one particular piece of art.
